Summary[edit]

Description
English: In the state of Quintana Roo, located on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, coastlines are eroding at a rate of about 1.2 metres a year, with peaks of over 4.9 metres. Because of climate change, rising sea levels and fierce storms are threatening the integrity of the coastal areas of this region, with an estimated beach width loss of four to twenty metres by 2050, which would have catastrophic socio-economic impacts, in view of the importance of tourism in the region.
