English: Coast Guard Island is in the Oakland Estuary between Oakland and Alameda, Calif. The 67-acre island is situated in the historic Brooklyn Basin, now known as Embarcadero Cove. The Island supports a number of Coast Guard facilities and personnel, including Integrated Support Command Alameda, and the Pacific Area and Eleventh District commanders. The first National Security Cutter, Bertholf, and three other 378-foot high-endurance cutters are also homeported there. |
