Description
English: As early as 1872, Seattle had regular horse racing. Starting in 1902, racing fans flocked to The Meadows, south of downtown Seattle on the current site of Boeing Field. The Meadows closed in 1909, when Washington State made racetrack betting illegal.

This photo, taken sometime between 1902 and 1909, shows the clubhouse at The Meadows, south of downtown Seattle. On the balcony, a group of women enjoys a sunny day at the races.
