| Description |
English: Closeup of the new level crossing A view of the crossing and how the road needed to be raised slightly to accommodate the new line. Brickwork and concrete make up most of the structure; the whole project cost £140,000. Funding was raised quickly due to the enthusiasm of supporters and donators. Norfolk County Council gave £25,000 and North Norfolk Council £5,000; several other people were glad to help. Major costs were moving services deeper and creating a concrete shield for BTs underground room. Road closure was timed with road works to the roundabout to minimise disruption on different dates. £140,000 was rather cheap for a level crossing, a fully functional signalled crossing coming in at a mere £4 million. |
