| Description |
English: Closeup of memorial to RAF Station Ibsley and US Station 347 Memorial dedicated to all those who served here during the WWII. It is beside Ellingham Drove, now a tarmaced minor road but in those days entirely blotted out by the airfield. Runway 01 crossed the line of the drove about where this memorial is. Today, there are large lakes north and south of this point made by post-war gravel extraction. For airfield appearance in 1944 see http://worldwar2airfields.fotopic.net/p41290131.html but note that picture is taken on an azimuth of 20 degrees. |
