English: Seattle residents Clarence and Otto Langstaff were both amateur photographers. As Clarence spent some time as a guide at Mount Rainier in the earlier part of the 20th century, he is probably the one who took this photo.
This late afternoon photo, probably taken by Clarence Langstaff in the 1910s, shows two mountain climbers standing on a snow hump a little south of the summit of Mount Rainier. The view is to the north, along the west rim of East Crater. The actual summit is just to the right of the hump in the far distance. It was a challenge to take pictures high in the mountains using the heavy equipment of the day.
