Summary[edit]
DescriptionCleveland Road, Wolverhampton - geograph.org.uk - 1095980.jpg |
English: Cleveland Road, Wolverhampton Cleveland Road was isolated from the city centre when the ring road was constructed in the early 1970s. The former Edwardian Bus/tram depot from 1902 was replaced by the plain red brick building in the distance here. That in turn closed down some years ago and has been used since for various purposes including some very interesting old bus restoration. The Victorian Building on the corner of Hospital Street was some kind of industrial unit, but ended its useful days as a club, though I am unsure whether it was still open when this image was taken in 2007. The whole area has been blighted since the closure of the Royal Hospital nearby in 1997, and the subsequent fiasco involving Tesco not developing the site as planned. |
