DescriptionCleaning up air filter from a Caterpillar D7F Dozer, Waldo Canyon fire.jpg | Spc. Melody Kirsch, wheeled vehicle mechanic, and Spc. Lamar Lrrington, computer/detection system repairer, Forward Support Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, use an air compressor to clean an air filter from a Caterpillar D7F Dozer during efforts to contain the Waldo Canyon fire at the U.S. Air Force Academy June 28, 2012. As horizontal construction engineers use tracked dozers and support vehicles to clear earth, in an effort to stop the wildfire’s progress, large amounts of soot and dust can quickly clog the vehicle’s air filters, causing them to overheat. Maintenance Soldiers must clean or replace the filters constantly to ensure the equipment runs efficiently. (U.S. Army photo by Pfc. Andrew Ingram, 4th Inf. Div. PAO) | ||
