Description
...Vers 1875, Monet peint une série de vues de voiliers au mouillage sur le bassin d’Argenteuil. Seul le cadrage et la disposition des bateaux varient d’un toile à l’autre. Dans la version de l’Orangerie les coques rouges vermillon sont mises en vedette au centre de la composition. Elles forment un contraste éclatant avec le bleu complémentaire du ciel et de l’eau et le vert de la végétation flottant à la surface de la Seine. Le tout est ponctué par les touches blanches des voiles et par celles outremer des coques de gauche et du miroitement de la rivière. Le ciel et la surface de l’eau sont prétexte à l’étude des reflets lumineux.... Extrait du site officiel
