| Description |
English: Clachan Bridge This is the famous 'Bridge over the Atlantic' linking the mainland with the island of Seil. Commissioned by John Campbell, Chamberlain of the Breadalbane Estates in 1791 it was designed by Robert Mylne. It has a span of 70 feet and is 40 feet above the seabed of the Sound of Seil.Adding colour and character to the bridge in summer is a purple flower living in the crevices of the bridge,'Fairy Foxglove',(Erinus Alpinus). |
