Circulation perturbée par le phénomène de El Nino:

  • Les alizés faiblissent ce qui permet à l'eau chaude de la partie Ouest, qui était retenue par ceux-ci, de dévaller la pente vers l'Est.
  • Répartition de la température de surface de l'eau qui permet à la ciculation de Walker de se produire plus à l'Est ce qui perturbe le patron météorologique normal.
