O pioneirismo sempre foi uma das marcas do Cine Theatro Brasil. Primeiro prédio da cidade sob a influência do estilo Art Déco, o edifício foi projetado pelo arquiteto Alberto Murgel e inaugurado na Praça Sete em 14 de julho de 1932. Um marco na arquitetura provincial de BH. Inspirado na arquitetura francesa, com volumes geométricos bem definidos, pouca ornamentação, vitrais de ferro e vidro martelado e revestimento das fachadas em pó de pedra, a construção também foi pioneira na utilização de concreto armado, importado da Inglaterra. Durante alguns anos, o Cine Theatro Brasil foi o prédio mais alto de Belo Horizonte. O fascínio por conhecer a cidade do alto era tamanho que as pessoas pagavam ingresso para visitar o terraço, de onde se avistava toda a Serra do Curral. Seu estilo arquitetônico abriu caminho para novas edificações nas duas décadas seguintes. Os edifícios Ibaté (Rua São Paulo), Capixaba (Rua Rio de Janeiro), o Centro dos Chauffeurs (Rua Acre) e as sedes da Prefeitura Municipal e dos Correios (Av. Afonso Pena) são bons exemplos. Essa tendência fez com que Belo Horizonte se tornasse uma das cidades brasileiras de referência no estilo Art Déco.
