Description
English: Chresten (Christen) Poulsen Berg, (December 18, 1829 – November 28, 1891), was a Danish liberal politician and editor. Chresten poulsen Berg (1829-91) was a teacher at Borgerskolen in Kolding 1852-61.He was a member of parliament, elected in Kolding circle of the Liberal Party from 1865 until his death in 1891. In 1871 he founded Kolding Folkeblad and then nine other leftwing papers. Already in the early 1870s he was the most prominent Liberal politician in the country. In the 1880s he was a Liberal lead in the fight against the rightwing Government. Chr. Berg is buried in Kolding Old Cemetery. The Statue was erected in 1906 on the initiative of a committee that had county man and Councillor for the Liberal Party in Kolding, attorney JL Hansen as chairman. The statue was made by Rasmus M. Andersen (1861-1930). At the base is written: Never go on Chord with injustice.
Dansk: Chresten (Christen) Poulsen Berg, (December 18, 1829 – November 28, 1891), var lærer ved Borgerskolen i Kolding 1852-61. Han var medlem af Folketinget valgt i Koldingkredsen for Venstre fra 1865 til sin død i 1891. I 1871 stiftede han Kolding Folkeblad og derefter ni andre Venstreblade, de såkaldte Bergske Blade, rundt omkring i Danmark.

Allerede i begyndelsen af 1870erne var han den mest fremtrædende Venstrepolitiker i landet. I 1880erne var han Venstres fører i kampen mod Estrups Højreregering. Chr. Berg ligger begravet på Kolding Gamle Kirkegård. Ved hans død afholdtes en stor sørgefest i staldgården.Statuen blev rejst i 1906 på initiativ af en komite, der havde landstingsmand og byrådsmedlem for Venstre i Kolding, sagfører J.L. Hansen som formand.

Statuen er udført af Rasmus M. Andersen(1861-1930). På soklen står teksten: Gå aldrig på Akkord med Uretten.
