English: Pot With Crimped Mouth. Western Zhou Dynasty. Three Gorges Museum, Chongqing
This Western Zhou pot comes from excavations around the ancient town of Dachang. Formerly the gateway to the Three Little Gorges, Dachang has, by now, been relocated; its original location was flooded by the dam. Rescue archaeology saved this pot, and thousands more, in advance of the flooding; the Museum was created to receive all these salvaged items. The globular, neckless vessel is topped by a wide, crimped mouth. The pattern on its body was produced by contact with textiles |
