| Description |
English: There are, at most, a few nights each year when stars, moon, season, location, and weather come together to make a great opportunity for star photography. Last Saturday it seemed possible that one of those conjunctions might occur. So I packed the truck and drove up to the north badlands for a night of shooting. After 149 miles on the ODO I stopped at the fence line on the north end of the King of Wings area. I had been there several times but hadn’t hiked on the eastern side. So I slid under the fence and crossed the Chinle Bentonite hills, heading south with my new Nikon Z 7.
This photo was taken at dusk as I returned to the truck. The subtle shades of color in these little hills, punctuated by occasional foliage in the seams, complemented the pink-blue layer of the eastern sky. I’ll share a few more shots that I took earlier that day as I wandered around, and, eventually, will get to the stars. |
