Description
English: Illustration issue du "Cours d'hippiatrique, ou traité complet de médecine des chevaux", M. Lafosse, Paris, Edme, 1772, p. 133.

Philippe-Étienne Lafosse expose dans cet ouvrage l’hippiatrique, ou l’art de soigner les chevaux. Maréchal ordinaire des Petites Écuries du roi, charge qu’il tient de son père, Étienne-Guillaume Lafosse (?-1765), il ouvre en 1767 un cours d’hippiatrie où il enseigne l’anatomie aux maréchaux et aux officiers du manège de Versailles. Son traité démontre le savoir et les compétences de ce dernier auquel la science vétérinaire actuelle doit beaucoup.
Dessinée par Le Carpentier et sculptée par Mesnil, la vignette illustre le chapitre intitulé "De la splanchnologie ou traité des viscères".
Ouvrage appartenant à la Bibliothèque historique du ministère de l'Agriculture, déposée à la MRSH Caen.
