Summary[edit]

Description
English: Cheshire Waterlife, Bird of Prey Centre, Sandiway Cheshire Waterlife, Bird of Prey Centre at Blakemere Craft Centre near Sandiway.

The public can watch a flying display of various owls, eagles and other birds of prey but for a premium, individuals can spend half a day flying the birds themselves, including eagles and owls, an unforgettable experience. The land on which Blakemere Craft Centre stands was originally owned by Lord Barrymore of Marbury and Blakemere Hall was built in 1878 for a rich Cheshire gentleman called Barclay Pagett. The stables, which house over 30 courtyard shops and craft stalls, were built in 1890 and were simply designed to accommodate coach and riding horses.

King Edward VII, then the Prince of Wales, often visited Blakemere during this period where it is claimed he enjoyed many notoriously wild parties. In 1940, the Government commandeered the premises to accommodate German prisoners of war and Polish refugees. The house was demolished in 1950 leaving only the stables and the Blakemere name.
