Dear Dana,
I have read your narrative, which is most superfluous, so far as its object is to shew me that you did nothing inconsistent with the truest character of a gentleman; for I never could suppose any thing [p. 2] else of you. But your story shews the radical error of the other side. I hope to use it in the cause of Peace.
I am obliged to you for the pains you have taken; but regret that you should have so little faith in my [p. 3] esteem for you as to have thought it necessary.
