Title
English: Charles Lindbergh arriving at Sand Point in Spirit of St. Louis, September 13, 1927
Description
English:

In May 1927, Charles A. Lindbergh made the first solo nonstop flight between New York and Paris in his plane the "Spirit of St. Louis." Lindbergh immediately became an international celebrity and was greeted with parades and gifts everywhere he went. He visited Seattle on September 13 and 14, 1927, where excited citizens held a parade and presented him with a monogrammed gold ring. After flying into Sand Point, the yacht "Alarwee" took him to the University Stadium where he delivered an address promoting aviation and airports. In addition to a Second Avenue parade, 30,000 schoolchildren met him in Volunteer Park. In this September 1927 photo, Lindbergh is landing his plane, the "Spirit of St. Louis," at Seattle's Sand Point field prior to the festivities of his visit.
