(1) Ce collège irlandais, bâti en 1769-70, frappé de deux obus pendant le bombardement de Paris en 1870-71. (2) [Traduction :] Ces locaux, utilisés par la United States Army de juillet à décembre 1945, ont servi d'abri aux personnes déplacées revendiquanr la nationalité américaine. Ils furent mis à leur disposition grâce à la charité et à la bonne volonté des évêques d'Irlande. En hommage reconnaissant, United States Army, 1945. English: Commemorative plaques :
Photo personnelle (own work) de Marianna(1) [Translation:] This Irish College, built in 1769-70, was hit by two shells during the bombardment of Paris in 1870-71. (2) These premises were used by the United States Army from July to December 1945 as a shelter for displaced persons claiming American citizenship. They were lent by the bishops of Ireland as a gesture of charity and goodwill. In grateful acknowledgement, United States Army, 1945. |
