Summary[edit]

Description
English: Built in 1906-1908, this Gothic Revival-style building was designed by Giesey and Faris, and constructed for the congregation of St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church, founded in 1835 as First German Lutheran Church. The building features a buff brick exterior with a hipped roof, gables on the south and east facades, a tower at the southeast corner of the building with a pyramidal hipped roof and copper finial, gabled dormers, and corner buttresses, gothic arched stained glass windows and double-hung stained glass windows, a two-story bay window on the south facade with a crenellated parapet, a rough-hewn stone base, rough-hewn stone trim, a shorter tower at the northeast corner of the building with a pyramidal hipped roof, recessed entrance doors with rough-hewn stone trim and gothic arched stained glass windows, and an attached parsonage on the west side of the building with a gabled roof, gothic arched windows and one-over-one windows, a second-story oriel window, and a buff brick front porch with gothic arched openings. The church today houses the congregation of the Centre Wheeling Fellowship, which attained its present name in 2019.
