| Description |
English: Causeway to the pony pound, Bratley, New Forest To the left is the fence along the southern side of the A31(T) dual carriageway, to the right is the head of the long, narrow valley mire that leads down into Backley Bottom. The path crosses this boggy ground on a causeway, reaching a pony pound. This pound is conveniently close to a gate that leads to a lay-by on the westbound carriageway of the A31. Ponies are driven off Backley Plain into this pound during the annual 'drift'. |
