Summary[edit]

Description

This was surprisingly easy. I didn't have to turn the gearbox to align the splines; it went together first time.

NOTE ADDED AUGUST 2008: ANYONE USING THESE PHOTOS AS AN AID TO BUILDING A CATERHAM MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW THAT YOU CAN FILL THE GEARBOX WITH OIL BEFORE INSTALLING THE ENGINE / GEARBOX. THAT IS WHY THE BLUE PLUG IS STILL IN MY GEARBOX. GET THE ENGINE AS LOW AS POSSIBLE IN THE CHASSIS AND, WHEN READY TO PUSH BACK ONTO THE PROP SHAFT, REMOVE THE PLUG AND PUSH THE ENGINE / TRANSMISSION ONTO THE PROPSHAFT. VERY LITTLE OIL ESCAPES IF YOU DO IT REASONABLY QUICKLY.
