Il castello è circondato da dieci torri, delle quali sette a pianta rettangolare e tre a pianta pentagonale. Le torri hanno vari nomi. •Torre senza nome – Pianta rettangolare – Oggi conosciuta come Torre di Nord Est •Torre delle Carceri – Pianta rettangolare – Oggi conosciuta come Torre del Marcangione •Torre senza nome – Pianta rettangolare – Denominata " della Chiesa" per la sua vicinanza con la cappella •Torre dell'Orologio – Pianta pentagonale •Torre senza Nome – Pianta rettangolare – Rimasta senza nome perché essendo alta pochi metri al suo interno include solamente una piccola stanza •Torre detta della Galleria o anche Baluardo dello stendardo – Pianta pentagonale- Oggi denominata Torre dei Cipressi •Torre della Secretaria – pianta rettangolare - oggi conosciuta come Torre della Terrazza •Baluardo del Leone - pianta pentagonale – Questa torre domina e difende il secondo ingresso, in essa è presente un incavo dove si narra ci fosse il nido dell'Aquila reale di Federico II •Torre "dove si faceva lo studio" – Pianta rettangolare – denominata anche "dei Quattro Venti" poiché esposta a tutti e quattro i punti cardinali e dei "sette venti" perché è la torre più avanzata verso la campagna ed è anche la più imponente •Torre senza nome – pianta rettangolare – Di questa torre oggi non restano che pochi resti |
