Description
Español: *Casco en forma de cabeza que combina rasgos antropomorfos y zoomorfos. Presenta sobre la frente una especie de diadema con aplicación de cobre, orejas de pabellón muy señalado, amplias cejas en cuero, ojos almendrados, nariz ancha y boca con dos largas filas de opérculos incrustados a modo de dientes. En la parte posterior conserva un rostro esquemático pintado. Presenta dos tiras de cuero para poder asegurar el casco bajo la barbilla.

Este casco o morrión está considerado como una de las obras maestras de la cultura tlingit y forma parte de la indumentaria de guerra. Procedencia: Alaska (Estados Unidos). Altura. 28,50 cm; anchura: 27 cm. Nº inv. 13909.

  • Collera o barbote en forma de media luna con el borde superior engrosado y representación de una cabeza zoomorfa que podría remitir a un animal marino.

Tiene como función proteger la mitad inferior de la cara y el cuello de su portador. Está realizada en una sola pieza de madera dura, tallada y posteriormente sometida a la acción del calor para darle la forma curva.

Cascos y barbotes eran parte de la indumentaria de guerra de la cultura Tlingit. 1775-1800. Altura: 21,50 cm; anchura: 25,50 cm. Nº inv. 13912.
