Summary[edit]

Description
English: Carved plaque on the ruin of Piercefield House There are a number of carved plaques visible on the ruins. This one is in better condition than some others and is on the western building. The indentation on the left border looks as if it could have been caused by a bullet. The face of the building has the look of having been shot at. The subject depicted appears to be Bellerophon falling off the back of the winged horse, Pegasus, after Zeus had sent a gadfly to sting Pegasus under his tail, causing him to rear up suddenly.
