Cantharellus tenuithrix Buyck & V. Hofst. Image location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA Caps up to 3.9 cm across. Spore print whitish to sl. creamy. Spores ~ 7.9-8.9 X 4.9-5.1 microns, ellipsoid to elongate. Q(range) = 1.57-1.76. Based on the whitish stem and lack of significant anastomosing between the “gills”, I’m tentatively going with C. tenuithrix. Used references: The contribution of tef-1 sequences to species delimitation in the Cantharellus cibarius complex in the southeastern USA by B. Buyck & V. Hofstetter
