English: Canon Armstrong de la Esmeralda en el Museo Naval de Valparaiso:
Cañón rayado de avancarga Armstrong de 40 libras que perteneció a la corbeta Esmeralda, rescatado del pecio de la misma, en Iquique. Estas piezas fueron construidas en la Real Fábrica de Cañones de Elswick, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Inglaterra, de fierro forjado zunchado, con la culata adaptada para pasar el tornillo de elevación. Para el Combate Naval de Iquique del 21 de mayo de 1879, la Esmeralda montaba doce de estas piezas según algunas versiones y diez según otras, piezas complementadas con cañones de 32 y 6 libras. Este cañón se conserva en exhibición, en el Museo Marítimo Nacional de Valparaíso. Fuente: Colección Museo Marítimo Nacional. |
