Cargo space has beenoffering in Vancouver recently at $21.50,but the rate at Seattfe being $6 50 less,shippers held back. Canadian steamshipcomr>nies have no intention as yet tomeet the cut. Owen Sound.—Capt. Alexander Mc-Leotl one of the best known captains onthe lakes died after a short illness athis home here. Capt. McLeod was fortwenty years master in the fleet of thePittsburgh Steamship Co., sailing someof their largest freighters. The whale-back steamer Rockefeller was his lastcommand. He retired five years ago ona pension and since then has acted aspilot for Ameiican vessels entering Can-adian waters. He is survived by hiswidow, one daughter and three sons.
