D . A little boy in one of the public schoolswas the butt of his school fellows, andthe despair of his teacher, because, ap-parently, he was so hopelessly stupid. This little boy stood silent when theteacher asked ihim to do a simple sumwhich she had chalked on the black-board, and the other boys secretly jeeredat him while the teacher lost interest inhim. On the playground the other boyscalled him a dub, because he alwaysmuffed the ball, and once, when he hada fight with a smaller boy, he was re-peatedly hit in the face until he ran away.The little girls made faces at him be-cause he was clumsy, and was alwaysrunning into chairs and stumbling overthings, and his life was very miserableindeed.
