By makingall the main parts of rolled-steel section the weight of the crane itselfhas been kept very low, thus avoiding that disproportion betweenthe dead weight and the live or useful weight which is so often a dis-couraging feature of all overhead travelling cranes. An interesting-feature of the bulletin, is that it describes a large number of alter-native constructions of the lifting gear, which are available for useunder the varying conditions found in the many different factories inwhich this type of crane can be used to advantage. The rainfall for thepast month measured 2.12 inches compared with .33 in May and nowthere is sufficient water in the streams in the Gatineau district tolloat the logs, consequently helping business at the saw mills.
