Summary[edit]

Description
English: Figure 1-9: Smoke Grenade Detonation Process. Center image: View of shape charge in demolition pit.

The text of the report states:

The results of the individual anomaly investigation are presented in Appendix G. Overall, 80 grids were investigated. A total of 1410 individual anomalies were identified during the geophysical investigation; of these, 959 were excavated during the intrusive investigation. Four grids (M-72, M-76, M-77, and M-78) did not contain any anomalies. The majority of the excavated anomalies were not OE-related. A fired and impacted rifle smoke grenade was found within grid L-71 on 14 April 1998. This item was detonated in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Final EE/CA Work Plan in an on-site disposal area located northwest of the test grid in Area A later that afternoon by Otis ANGB 102nd Fighter Wing EOD personnel (see Figures 1-8 and 1-9). It should be noted that the rifle smoke grenade is not classified as an OE/UXO item since it is not designed to cause damage to personnel or material through explosive force. The intent of rifle smoke grenade is to camouflage or obscure firing positions.
