Summary[edit]

Description
English: View of the flight deck of the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Valley Forge (CV-45) in Korean waters, in July 1950. Two other carriers of Task Force 77 can be seen in the background. On deck are planes of Carrier Air Group 5 (CVG-5): Grumman F9F-3 Panthers of Fighter Squadron 51 (VF-51) "Screaming Eagles" (tail code S-1XX, foreground), VF-52 "Knight Riders" (S-2XX, background), and Vought F4U-4B Corsairs of VF-53 "Blue Knights" (S-3XX, left foreground). The Happy Valley was deployed to the Western Pacific and Korea from 1 May to 1 December 1950 and had launched air strikes on 3-4 July and 18-19 July.
