| Description |
English: CSIRO has pioneered an innovative radio camera (or “phased array feed") device for the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope it is now building in Western Australia. The device sits at the focal centre of each ASKAP dish to receive incoming cosmic radio waves. The new 'radio-camera' technology makes the useful image field of each antenna a hundred times larger. In 2010, CSIRO was awarded an Australian Research Council new Super Science Fellowship to develop this technology. |
