Nederlands: Deze steen werd in de oudheid beschouwd als voorbehoedmiddel tegen dronkenschap. Thomas en Pavitt (1970) vermelden het veelvuldig gebruik van amethist door Egyptenaren bij de samenstelling van hun amuletten. Militairen droegen de amuletten om succes te verzekeren, naast kalmte in gevaarlijke perioden. |
