Description |
Echter, " the uses of masks among these groups is even less documented" (1978: 23). De Brochure Boven Volta schrijft in het kort: "The Samo belong to the ethnic group Mande. Their masks and statuettes have another artistic form compared to their neighbours and they are not well-known" (1982: p. 23) Ook bestaat er geen duidelijkheid in de literatuur over de relatie tussen de Buffelmaskers aangetroffen bij de Bwa (vnl. Skougstad schrijft hierover: "The Bwa and Samo are, linguistically, distinctly separate both from the Gurunsi groups and from each other. The areas occupied by these groups are geographically contiguous, however, and the distribution of mask styles- in spite of the confusion brought about by collected but undocumentated pieces- indicates diffusion of one or more traditions throughout the area" (1978: 23) |
