Nederlands: De Mporro worden tegenwoordig (1985) alleen nog bij ceremoniële gelegenheden gedragen. Deze versie is goedkoper dan die geheel uit kralen bestaand, zie 5225-17, maar vereist meer werk omdat de vezels kwetsbaarder zijn. Moeders maken de Mporro voor hun dochters, vlak voor hun huwelijk. Het type sieraad wordt ook gedragen door Rendille vrouwen, van hen zou het idee kunnen zijn overgenomen (Kratz, 1985). |
