| Description |
Nederlands: Negatief. Moeara Moentai was een belangrijk handelscentrum aan de rivier de Mahakam, waar de Boeginezen handel dreven met de Dajaks. Het was ook een centrum van vissers van Amoentai, die hun naam aan de plaats gegeven hadden. Het districtshoofd op deze foto vormt een fraai contrast met het portret van zijn collega van Negara (zie 10001682). Waar de laatste een zeer traditionele indruk maakt, lijkt het districtshoofd van Moeara Moentai volstrekt 'verwesterd'. Zoals uit deze foto's blijkt, was ook op Borneo het systeem doorgedrongen van districtshoofden, gerekruteerd uit de inheemse bevolking, dienend onder Nederlandse Residenten en Assistent-Residenten.
