| Description |
Nederlands: Repronegatief. Scholing in praktische vakken gebeurde soms op de gewone lagere school maar er waren ook speciale cursussen en scholen. Bij deze batikles worden in de eerste plaats vaardigheden overgedragen, maar er speelden ook allerlei aspecten een rol die niet onmiddellijk zichtbaar zijn. Zo kan men denken aan ondersteuning van het zendingswerk. Daarnaast was er sprake van de overdracht van (andere) Westerse waarden en patronen, waarbij niet alleen gedacht moet worden aan de les als onderdeel van een 'beschavingsoffensief', maar ook zeer praktisch aan het leren maken van bijvoorbeeld overhemden. Dat zou aangeduid kunnen worden als een onderdeel van het modernisatieproces, dan wel verwestersing of globalisering. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
