Summary[edit]

Description The U.S. Navy guided missile cruiser USS Long Beach (CGN-9) while on PIRAZ (Positive Identification Radar Advisory Zone) station off Vietnam between 24 March and 5 April 1967. The photo was taken during highlining operations with the destoyer USS Allen M. Sumner (DD-692). Note the "Big Mother" search and rescue Sikorsky SH-3A Sea King helicopter on the fantail. The SH-3A was from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron HS-2 Golden Falcons, which was assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 57 (CVSG-57). CVSG-57 was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CVS-12) for a deplyoment to Vietnam from 27 March to 28 October 1967.
