Summary[edit]

Description
English: British-made Bush television from 1949. This is the 'Birmingham' or 'midlands' model. The other version was the 'London' model. At this time only 2 transmitters were in use in the UK and on different frequencies. It was necessary to buy the correct TV for your locality. London was served by Alexandra Palace and Birmingham's tv area was served by the brand new Sutton Coldfield transmitter. Both transmitters broadcast a single programme from the BBC on 405 lines. The north would have to wait another 2 years until Holme Moss transmitting station was built.
