| Description |
English: Caption reads: Major Burnham's favorite rifle was his Birmingham Small Arms .303 Lee Metford, the rifle he used to kill Mlimo, the Matabele high priest. The Lee Metford was one of he first successful bolt actions, offering high velocity and a 10-shot magazine. Burnham modified his Rhodesian bandolier to carry both .303 rifle cartridges and .44-40 cartridges for his Remington (Model 1875) revolver. The Matabele shild and stabbing spears are from the 1896 Matabele War. |
