Description
Español: Los dos buques que posee el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Conicet) comenzaron las campañas de investigación científica “Golfo San Jorge” y “Agujero Azul” con el objetivo de desarrollar estrategias de gestión que permitan la explotación sustentable de los recursos marítimos.

La campaña “Golfo San Jorge” (GSJ) es emprendida por el buque oceanográfico Puerto Deseado, y se encuentra incluida en el Programa Nacional Pampa Azul como una de sus áreas estratégicas prioritarias de investigación, dentro del marco de la Política de Ciencia y Tecnología de la Nación.

La productividad biológica que aporta el ecosistema del GSJ al Mar Argentino abarca varias especies de gran importancia económica, como el langostino y la merluza, que desarrollan allí partes importantes de su ciclo de vida.

La expedición “Agujero Azul”, en tanto, será llevada a cabo por el buque Austral y está diseñada para caracterizar el sistema marino durante el pico de producción de fitoplancton, sostén de las tramas tróficas de la región, incluidas las especies comerciales y aquellas de interés para la conservación de la vida silvestre.
