For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Rotes Rathaus, Fernsehturm ADN-ZB Deutsche Demokratische Republik 5.2.1975 ki. Make-up für die Berliner Rathausuhr. Die bekannteste Turmuhr der DDR-Hauptstadt - die Rathausuhr der Berliner City - läßt nach einer kürzlich erfolgten zweimonatigen Schönheitskur ihre goldenen Zeiger und Ziffern in der Sonne strahlen. Das Berliner Rathaus- und auch seine Turmuhr - waren während des zweiten Weltkrieges stark zerstört worden. Nach umfangreichen und komplizierten Restaurationsarbeiten schlug die Uhr erstmalig wieder am 1. Mai 1954. Ein Jahr danach war das rote Backstein-Renaissancegebäude aus dem Jahre 1869 wieder seiner Bestimmung übergeben worden.
