For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Stadtzentrum, Fernsehturm, Rotes Rathaus ADN-ZB Koard 4.9.74 Berlin-Bilanz-Während der 25jährigen Geschichte der DDR schufen die Werktätigen der Hauptstadt ein neues, modernes Stadtzentrum. Heute ist Berlin das politische, wirtschaftliche und kulturelle Zentrum der Republik. Der Fernsehturm, Wahrzeichen der Stadt, wurde 1969 fertiggestellt. Mit einer Höhe von 361,5 m ist er das zweithöchste Bauwerk Europas. Seit 1955 zeigt sich auch das Rote Rathaus wieder in alter Schönheit. 200 Abgeordnete aus allen Schichten des Volkes treffen von dort aus ihre Entscheidungen. (Siehe auch Foto Nr. S 75 800)
