For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Dresden, Elbe, Entnahme einer Wasserprobe ADN-ZB Häßler 6.3.74 Bez. Dresden: Täglich Untersuchungen des Elbwasser – Täglich untersuchen die Chemieingenieure und -Laborantinnen der Oberflußmeisterei Obere Elbe-Mulde die Beschaffenheit der Elbe. Wolfgang Viehweger und Klaus Frenzel von der Abteilung Gewässeraufsicht sowie die Laborantin Ingrid Pohl entnehmen eine Probe aus der Elbe (Foto). Anschließend wird das Wasser in modern eingerichteten Labors auf organische Belastung sowie Sauerstoff-, Phenol- und Salzgehalt getestet. Kontinuierlich alle 14 Tage nehmen auch Experten aus der benachbarten CSSR an dieser Untersuchung teil.
