For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Plauen, Werkzeugmaschinenbetrieb, Außenansicht Zentralbild Gahlbeck 26.9.1964 VEB Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik Plauen 1949 wurde der als "Wiege der Automatisierung" bekannte volkseigene Werkzeugmaschinenbetrieb "Wema" in Plauen (unser Foto zeigt einen Blick auf das Werk) gegründet. Damals begann der Betrieb mit 25 Belegschaftsangehörigen zu arbeiten. Heute stellen fast 1 800 Werkzeugmaschinenbauer hochwertige Sondermaschinen und Taktstraßen her, die sich auch im Ausland großer Beliebtheit erfreuen.
