For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Breitenworbis, Baumschule, Unkraut jäten ADN-ZB Ludwig-31.7.1987 pe Bez. Erfurt: Forstbaumschule Breitenworbis- Die jungen Pflänzchen werden in der größten Forstbaumschule des Bezirks Erfurt im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes gehegt und gepflegt. Die Forstarbeiterinnen Astrid Müller (vorn) und Brigitte Schulle gehen dem Unkraut mit der Hacke zu Leibe, damit die zarten Pflänzchen, aus denen einmal starke Bäume werden sollen, in ihrer Entwicklung nicht behindert werden. die 26 Beschäftigten dieser Baumschule liefern jährlich rund vier Millionen Pflanzen an Reviere in den Bezirken Erfurt und Magdeburg. (siehe 15 N) Rund 2,9 Millionen Hektar Wald bedecken rund 27 Prozent des DDR-Territoriums. Um auch in Zukunft einen guten Waldbestand zu garantieren, werden in der DDR bis 1990 ca. 125.000 Hektar wieder aufgeforstet. Dazu liefern die Forstbaumschulen den erforderlichen Nachwuchs.
