For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Weimar, Schloss
ADN-ZB Ludwig 22.5.87 Bez. Erfurt: Städteportät Weimar Zu den markantesten Bauwerken der "Klassikerstadt" gehört das Schloß, jetzt Heimstätte der Kunstsammlung zu Weimar und der Nationalen Forschungs- und Gedenkstätten der klassischen deutschen Literatur. Einst hatte hier eine Wasserburg der Grafen von Weimar gestanden. Diese und auch nachfolgende Bauten wurden zerstört oder fielen zumindest teilweise, Bränden zum Opfer. Erhalten sind noch die "Bastille" im alten Zustand und der Schloßturm, dem die barocke Haube erst 1728 aufgesetzt worden war. |
