ADN-ZB Grubitzsch 25.6.85 Leipzig: agra 86- Mit der Stammkuh "Patella" und ihren zehn Kälbern aus der VEG Tierzucht Köllitsch, Bezirk Leipzig, wird auf der 30. Landwirtschaftsausstellung der DDR der Embryotransfer demonstriert. Bei diesem biotechnischen Verfahren zur Intensivierung der Rinderzucht werden Embryonen von Kühen mit genetisch wertvollem Erbgut anderen Kühen übertragen. Dadurch bringen auch diese Tiere Kälber zu Welt, die überdurchschnittliche Anlagen der Spenderkühe und -bullen für eine hohe Milchleistung, guten Fleischansatz und hohe Grobfutterverwertung besitzen. Während eine Kuh mit besten Zuchtwerten in ihrem Leben normalerweise nur fünf Kälber austrägt, erhöht der Embryotransfer die Anzahl wertvoller Nachkommen auf das Doppelte bis Vierfache.
